Stressed out because Perfect Mum™ down the road got all her back-to-school shopping sorted before the schools even broke up? Comfort yourself with the thought that at least one of her kids had a summer growth spurt and has outgrown their new trousers (even if they haven’t, this sort of positive thinking is essential if you’re going to make it to the school gates without crying). Now, grab some Macb and keep reading because we’ve got you covered with our list of back-to-school essentials, so hydrate, hit the shops and you too will be ready for the first day of term…
Let’s do lunch…
We’ve all seen the Tik-Tok mums filling fancy lunch boxes with scale models of the Eiffel Tower made from carrot sticks. It’s pretty impressive, but unless you’re willing to sacrifice sleep to sculpt haggis, neeps, and tatties into a miniature Forth Rail Bridge, then we think some fruit, a few raw veggies, a couple of cheese pieces and a bottle of Macb is a braw lunch. Don’t forget a nice lunch box for them to lose by the second week of term.
Sock it to me
It’s the most boring item of clothing ever, but socks are a back-to-school essential – buy more than you need because the washing machine will send at least three to another dimension before half term. And don’t forget to pop a spare pair in the wee one’s bag because otherwise they’ll spend the day in soggy socks after jumping in puddles at break.
Braw bags and backpacks
Whether they’re begging you for a Barbie backpack or you have to follow school uniform rules with basic black, a school bag is as much a part of the new school year as a jumper they’ll eventually grow into and cheesy photos on the front doorstep on the first day of term.
Write you are
One thing we miss about school is getting a nice new pencil case stuffed with new pens and pencils at the start of the school year (we may have to buy ourselves some new gel pens to cheer ourselves up). Stock up on pens, pencils, rulers, erasers, and other pencil case essentials now so they start term off write (we’re sticking with the right/write pun and not even the threat of detention will stop us!).
Don’t put your foot in it
If you’ve already fought the battle of what counts as a sensible school shoe, you might think that you’re sorted for first day footwear. But have you remembered trainers, football boots, and wellies for the wee ones? Check the uniform list and make sure they’ve got all the shoes they need to march into school in style.
Keep them safe and secure
We all love a good back-to-school photo post on our socials on the first day off term – let’s face it they’ll never look so clean and tidy again! But if you’re sharing pics on socials and they might be seen by more than just your friend and family, don’t forget to cover up the school badge on their uniforms so random people can’t see which school they go to.
And don’t forget – no school bag is complete without a bottle of refreshingly fruity Macb! Grab the kids’ fave flavour and help keep them hydrated and happy. And, because Macb is sugar-free it gets top marks from most schools as a lunch-bag essential. Dinnie fash, gie Macb a bash.
