The sun is shining (more often) and it’s time plan your summer. Here at Macb, we like to make things big and bold (if you hadn’t realised) and this summer’s no different. We’ve launched new 1.5 litre bottles AND six packs of our summer-tastic watermelon flavour, just in time for the hot weather. Available exclusively at Asda, it’s the perfect feel-good flavour for the summer. And to help you live it large this summer, we’ve put together a list of ideas to help you to supersize your summer. Bring on the sunshine!
Festival vibes
Whether you’re off glamping at a music festival or hoping to see the next big thing at Edinburgh Festival Fringe, there’s loads to do at Scotland’s summer festivals. Wherever you’re planning on making a day of it, make sure you take plenty of water. At the Fringe especially, venues can get pretty hot and sweaty, and comfy shoes are a must (heels just don’t mix with Edinburgh’s cobbled streets and standing in queues for shows). And don’t forget there’s more than just comedy at the Fringe; there are loads of great family shows, musicals, plays, and dance performances to check out and of course, the Royal Mile is the place to be for street performers and general Fringe vibes – perfect for a last minute day out!
Explore outdoor art
Make the most of a sunny day and explore Jupiter Artland. It’s an outdoor sculpture park near Edinburgh, and it’s packed with unusual (and incredibly Instagramable) works of art. It’s perfect for a day out with your mates, or an afternoon with the kids (plus, after your visit you can get the kids to create their own Jupiter Artland inspired sculptures or designs when you’re trying to think of a rainy-day activity!).
Get off the sofa and soak up the sunshine
You never know how long the Scottish summer is going to last, so be on stand-by to make the most of it at all times. Don’t worry if it’s still a week until payday and you’re a wee bit skint – go for a walk or a bike ride and soak up the sunshine. Act like a tourist in your hometown and take loads of photos of things you’d normally rush past, jump on a bus to a park on the other side of the city, or go for that long walk you’ve always talked about doing. Grab some Macb from the fridge, slather on the sunscreen, and get out there.
Life’s a beach
If you’re lucky enough to be close to a beach, enjoy an old school day at the seaside. Pack a picnic, grab a blanket to sit on, and hit the shops on the prom to buy a bucket and spade. Then spend the day napping on the sand, paddling in the sea, and building sandcastles (you can even let the kids join in 😉).
Feel the power of the gladiators
If you recently spent your Saturday nights glued to the telly, rooting for Viper, Sabre, Nitro, and the rest of the Gladiators, then we bet you secretly fancied giving the Eliminator a go. Well, here’s your sign to unleash your inner gladiator(ish)! There are loads of assault courses across Scotland, and loads of them are family friendly, so you and the kids (or you and your mates, we’re not here to judge) can spend an afternoon swinging on ropes, climbing up cargo nets, scrambling over obstacles, and trying not to fall off things. Check out your local activity centre to find out what’s on offer and get ready to unleash your inner Gladiator!
Chill out with cool drinks
We all know Macb is the ultimate in fruity refreshment, but have you ever tried using Macb to make fabulously fruity ice-cubes to add a twist to your summer drinks? You can also use Macb to make mocktails – experiment with juices, cordials and your fave Macb and see what you can create.
You can also get the kids involved – set up a table outside, place a load of bottles of different flavours of Macb in the middle (the 500ml bottles work best for little hands), give everyone a cup, and let them invent a new Macb flavour by mixing as many flavours as they dare! We think peach and watermelon could be a winner…
Art lessons get a glow up
This one’s for the grown-ups. Neon and glow in the dark painting classes are set to be the big thing this summer. The classes take place in a dark(ish) room, and you get the chance to unleash your inner Picasso with neon or glow in the dark paints. There’s a teacher on hand to help you master things, and some classes even include a couple of drinks. These pop-up events are taking place in various cities across Scotland, so check your local listings to see if there’s one near you.
Whatever you’re up to this summer, make sure you stay hydrated. We all need to drink water to stay happy and healthy, and during warmer weather you may need to drink a wee bit more than usual to stay refreshed and alert. (Which sounds like a great excuse to grab even more of your fave Macb!) Be sure to share with us how your supersizing yer summer this year (we’ve used up our ideas and are going to need inspo for next year 😉)!
